Global Numismatic Journal reads world history through coinage. We record when a coin was struck, where, by whose hand, and how it travelled to reach us.
Mission
Our work begins with reading a single coin through its history, its art, and its provenance. What does the imagery mean, why that metal, why that year. When you finish reading, you should understand not just the coin but the age that produced it.
Beyond that sits GNJ Intelligence — a layer that records price, liquidity and authenticity risk, but only as far as we can cite a source. When you have finished the history and want to know how the piece is valued today, it is there. Figures we cannot source are not published.
Editorial Policy
1. Evidence First
Every article originates from primary sources (auction results, public institutions, the NGC/PCGS databases, academic journals). Sources are cited, and unverified rumor is never published.
2. Conclusion-First Structure
Where the evidence supports it, an article leads with a 1-line conclusion (a summary of what was observed) and a 5-point editorial significance score. We do not attach buy/sell verdicts — GNJ supplies the evidence, not the verdict. Trading decisions belong to the reader.
3. Two Modes for Distinct Reader Personas
GNJ readers fall into three segments. Each article renders in Investor or Collector mode to match their lens.
- P1 Investor: Institutional investors and HNW individuals who prioritize liquidity and market data
- P2 Collector: Long-term collectors focused on history, provenance, and rarity
- P3 Dealer/Pro: Practitioners who consult market indices, authenticity checklists, and auction divergence daily
4. Risk Made Visible
Counterfeit, alteration, and theft risks surface in a dedicated Fake / Fraud Alert widget. Hiding market downsides is not an option — exposing them before readers are harmed is our responsibility.
5. Respect for Confidentiality
Addresses of counterparties, holders, and salon locations are always treated as undisclosed for security reasons.

GNJ is operated by an editorial team spanning the following specialties.
Numismatic Research
Numismatic researchers expert in ancient, medieval, and modern eras. They maintain descriptions for 947,965 catalogued types. NGC / PCGS population data is not currently ingested.
Market Analytics
Tracks major auction schedules and published results. Systematic hammer-price aggregation has not begun, so GNJ100 calculation is suspended and no index value is shown until it resumes.
Authenticity Desk
Monitors market-confirmed counterfeits and alterations and operates the Fake / Fraud Alert widget.
Concierge
Single point of contact for premium members on appraisal, selling, and import/export inquiries.
