Correction (Oct 13, 2026): We corrected the headline, summary and body to match the source. The previous article placed the light bulb at the center of the design; the source places it on the right side. We also corrected the description of November 30, 2026 as a scheduled shipping date (the source gives it as estimated availability), and added the issuing country, face value, weight, diameter and other specifications, as well as the source date. The previous headline was "The Trojan Horse, Reinterpreted with Astounding Depth on a New Coin."
This article is based on a Numismática Visual report published on August 21, 2026. The item described is a newly issued collector coin, not a circulating coin.
Power Coin has presented TROJAN HORSE, a collector coin inspired by the story of the Trojan Horse. It is struck in five ounces of pure silver, and production is limited to 499 pieces worldwide.
The story behind the design
The source article retells the legend. According to epic tradition, the war began after the Trojan prince Paris fled with Helen, wife of King Menelaus of Sparta. The Greeks could not break through the city walls, and tradition credits Odysseus with the idea of building a giant wooden horse that could hide a group of soldiers.
The Trojans brought the horse inside the walls, and at night the hidden warriors came out and opened the gates. The Latin phrase "Timeo Danaos et dona ferentes," usually translated as "I fear the Greeks even when they bring gifts," is spoken by the priest Laocoön in Virgil's Aeneid.
Reverse and obverse
The coin was made with smartminting® 4.0 and high relief, which raises the horse well above the field. The finish is proof.
The reverse shows the giant horse from a low angle, as if the viewer were standing beneath it. Planks, rivets, beams, joints and wooden reinforcements are reproduced in detail. In the background are the still-intact walls, gates and buildings of Troy, with a large full moon above them.
The obverse takes a more conceptual approach. It is filled with gears, pulleys, ropes, rollers, hooks and other moving mechanisms. On the right side of the design is a stylized light bulb, representing the moment an idea appears and the ingenuity of Odysseus.
