Rare Collectibles TV Releases Gold and Silver Commemoratives Honoring the 1776 Continental Dollar
On January 21, 2026, CoinWeek reported that Rare Collectibles TV (RCTV) has released limited-edition gold and silver commemoratives honoring the 1776 Continental Currency dollar. Dated 1776–2026, they mark the 250th anniversary of American independence. The one-ounce gold version is limited to 499 pieces and the five-ounce silver version to 999, sold only by RCTV.
Correction (Oct 13, 2026): We rewrote the headline, summary and body to match the source. We removed market analysis and investment advice not in the source (institutional investor interest, an MS-67+ buying recommendation, silver price risk and claimed U.S. Mint recognition) and an unsupported reference to a Latin inscription "Time Flies," and stated the mintages, prices, NGC grading and design mottos as reported. The previous headline was "1776 Continental Dollar Bicentennial: How Gold/Silver Tiering Splits Collector Segments."
This article is based on a CoinWeek report published on January 21, 2026. The items described are not original 1776 Continental Dollars; they are modern commemoratives sold by Rare Collectibles TV (RCTV).
RCTV has announced the release of limited-edition gold and silver commemoratives honoring the 1776 Continental Currency dollar, which CoinWeek describes as one of the most iconic coins in early American history.

Franklin's Design
According to the article, Benjamin Franklin's design for the Continental Dollar featured a sundial with the motto "Mind Your Business" on the obverse. The reverse shows 13 interlocking rings with the motto "We Are One," representing the unity of the original thirteen colonies.
RCTV Co-Founder Jack McNamara described the coin as "the coin of revolution, a great emblem of a new nation."
Versions and Grading
The commemoratives come in two versions:
- One-ounce gold, limited to 499 examples - Five-ounce silver, limited to 999 examples
Each piece is certified and encapsulated by the Numismatic Guaranty Company (NGC) and graded Mint State 70. The pieces carry RCTV's exclusive 100 Greatest U.S. Coins label.
