A 12-Day Giveaway Relay Kicking Off on Thanksgiving

The 2025 edition of the 'Twelve Days of COINmas,' an annual holiday event for an online community of coin collectors, has concluded. The event has been held each year since 2022.

The 2025 installment began on Thanksgiving, November 27, and was originally planned to last until Christmas but ultimately extended until January 13, 2026. The giveaway was structured in 12 rounds, with a drawing held every two to four days to award prizes to the winners.

Six Volunteers Host Free-to-Enter Giveaway with No Shipping Costs

This giveaway was made possible by prize donations from six members: JoshuaP, Randy Abercrombie, Eric the Red, masterswimmer, lordmarcovan, and BuffaloHunter. One of the organizers, lordmarcovan, extended special thanks to Eric the Red and BuffaloHunter for their particularly generous contributions.

There was no cost to participate, and shipping was free for all prizes, anywhere in the world. To enter a drawing, interested members simply had to declare their interest in the current round's prize and post something related to coins or an otherwise enjoyable comment. The sole requirement for winners was to confirm receipt of their prize in the forum thread.

Friendly Community Spirit and the Option to Enter for a Friend

A notable feature of the event was the option for members to enter on behalf of a friend by nominating them in their post. Records indicate that several winners used this rule to have prizes sent to fellow collectors.

In the first round, for instance, JoshuaP offered prizes that included two ancient coins, a coin album for Canadian small cents, and a lot of approximately 50 world coins. Participant responses highlighted the community's cordial atmosphere, with members sharing stories about their collections, posting photos of their pet cats to nominate other users for a prize, and sharing pictures of their Thanksgiving turkeys.

The results for all 12 rounds are compiled in the thread's initial post. This log provides a complete list for each round, including the prize donor, drawing date, winner's name, shipping status, and the date the prize was reported as received.

The log also shows how issues were handled. For example, when the initial winner of Round 8 failed to claim their prize, a redraw was conducted approximately one month later. The record confirms that the prize was successfully sent to the new winner, demonstrating the event's diligent management through to its conclusion.
