CoinTalk members share Bhutan coins showing the king's crown
On the collector forum CoinTalk, a post about a 1975 Bhutan 25 Chetrums copper-nickel coin led members to share Bhutan coins. One member wrote that the crown worn by the king is called the Raven Crown. Everything in this article is what forum members posted; GNJ has not verified it.

The member who started the thread, fretboard, shared a Bhutan 25 Chetrums coin. The member noted the hat worn by the figure on the coin and wrote, "I like his hat!"
According to this member, the coin is dated 1975 and is catalogued as KM#40. The member gave its diameter as 18.9 mm, its weight as 2.6 grams and its metal as copper-nickel.
The crown is called the Raven Crown
Another member, lordmarcovan, wrote that they searched online for the hat. The member said it is called the Raven Crown.
The same member posted a photo of an earlier King of Bhutan, Ugyen Wangchuck, wearing the crown in 1905, crediting the image to Wikimedia.
Coins members shared
The member alurid shared a 1950 ½ Rupee coin. The member described it as showing a crowned bust of King Jigme Wangchuck and said it was minted in Calcutta, India.
The member willieboyd2 posted three copper-nickel coins dated 1966 and said they had owned them since the 1960s. The member gave these details:
- 25 Naya Paisa: 19 mm, 2.9 grams - 50 Naya Paisa: 24 mm, 5.9 grams - 1 Rupee: 29 mm, 11.8 grams
The thread also turned to other crowns and hats, including the Ethiopian crown, head gear from Nepal and designs showing the Kaiser.
