U.S. Mint Releases 1776-2026 Palladium Eagle With 250 Liberty Bell Privy, Limited to 5,000 Coins

The United States Mint began selling the 2026-W $25 Uncirculated American Palladium Eagle at noon ET on September 3, 2026. The coin is struck at the West Point Mint.

It carries a 1776 ~ 2026 dual date and a Liberty Bell privy mark containing the numeral 250. Mintage is limited to 5,000 coins.

The special elements add the Palladium Eagle to the 2026 U.S. coins carrying Semiquincentennial designs, which include this year's circulating coinage and collector issues such as American Eagle gold and silver coins. Each Palladium Eagle contains one ounce of .9995 fine palladium.

Designs

The obverse shows a high-relief version of Adolph A. Weinman's Winged Liberty design, first introduced on the 1916 Mercury dime. Its enduring popularity has led the Mint to revisit the design several times, including for the 2016 centennial gold dime and again this year as part of its Best of the Mint series.

The reverse, also Weinman's work, features a high-relief eagle adapted from the 1907 American Institute of Architects Gold Medal.

Obverse inscriptions are LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST and 1776 ~ 2026, along with Weinman's initials. The W mint mark denotes production at the West Point Mint, and the Liberty Bell privy mark with the numeral 250 recognizes the nation's 250th anniversary. Reverse inscriptions are UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, $25, 1 OZ. Pd .9995 FINE and E PLURIBUS UNUM.

Earlier Palladium Eagles

The American Palladium Eagle is a relatively new part of the American Eagle lineup. Authorized by Congress under Public Law 111-303, the series debuted in 2017. Releases have since rotated among bullion, proof, reverse proof and uncirculated finishes.

At 5,000 coins, the 2026 mintage is lower than the final sales total of every previous American Palladium Eagle, bullion and collector versions alike, except the 2025-W Reverse Proof, which the Mint made unavailable after sales reached 3,991.

Price and Ordering

The 2026-W Uncirculated American Palladium Eagle is available through the Mint's palladium product page. Each coin is priced at $1,895, subject to weekly adjustments under the Mint's precious metals pricing matrix. An initial household order limit of one coin applies.

As with other Mint precious-metal products, Palladium Eagle prices have varied over the years. The 2018 Proof debuted at $1,387.50, while the 2025 Reverse Proof opened at $1,695.
