U.S. Mint Opens Sales of Mayflower Compact Quarter Rolls and Bags on February 5, 2026

According to a CoinNews report published on February 5, 2026, the United States Mint began selling rolls and bags of the new 2026 Mayflower Compact quarter that day at noon ET. It is the first of five quarters issued in 2026 for the 250th anniversary of American independence, the semiquincentennial.

The quarter itself entered general circulation on Jan. 5. The rolls and bags offered by the Mint contain the same coins, though they have not circulated.

Products and Limits

The coins are circulation quality and were struck at the Philadelphia or Denver Mints. Two products are offered:

- Two-roll sets (40 quarters each from the Philadelphia and Denver Mints): $56 - 100-coin bags (from either the Philadelphia or Denver Mint): $63

Product limits are 5,200 two-roll sets and 3,100 of each 100-coin bag. Initial household order limits are three roll sets and ten of each bag. Orders are taken through the Mint's online catalog. Unlike in previous years, no San Francisco Mint roll option is offered.

Designs

The obverse shows two Pilgrims embracing as they look upon the New World. CoinNews notes that the Pilgrims arrived outside their intended destination and lacked a charter to establish a colony at Plymouth. The Mayflower Compact, signed on Nov. 21, 1620, formed the basis of the settlement, deriving its legal authority from the consent of the colonists to serve the common good. The report says the compact is widely regarded as a forerunner of the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution.

Obverse inscriptions are "E PLURIBUS UNUM," "1776 ~ 2026" and "IN GOD WE TRUST." The design is by Ronald D. Sanders, sculpted by Eric David Custer.

The reverse shows the Mayflower under full sail in rough seas, heading west. The Pilgrims aboard were seeking religious freedom; they landed at Cape Cod and established a settlement that later became Plymouth, Massachusetts. Reverse inscriptions are "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "LIBERTY," "MAYFLOWER COMPACT" and "25¢." The design is by Cyrus E. Dallin, sculpted by Phebe Hemphill.

The Five 2026 Quarters

Congress authorized the Semiquincentennial Quarters under the Circulating Collectible Coin Redesign Act of 2020 (Public Law 116-330), which calls for five new quarters in 2026. CoinNews lists the following release timing for their rolls and bags:

- Mayflower Compact (this release) - Revolutionary War (scheduled for March 27) - Declaration of Independence (scheduled for June 16) - U.S. Constitution (summer) - Gettysburg Address (fall)

For the 2026 semiquincentennial, the Mint is also issuing a range of unique circulating coins. The nickel keeps its recent designs but adds the dual dates 1776 ~ 2026, while the dime, the five quarters and the half dollar carry entirely new, one-year-only designs. The other quarter designs will also appear in the Mint's clad and silver proof sets and its uncirculated set.
