1804 Dollar Reproduction to Lead U.S. Mint's Semiquincentennial Releases
The U.S. Mint will release a gold coin and silver medal set featuring the 1804 Dollar. The set is part of a series of releases in August 2026 for the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Other products include Morgan and Peace dollars in a new finish and a commemorative quarter.

This is the mintage limit for the 1804 Dollar gold coin and silver medal set, the latest release in the U.S. Mint's “Best of the Mint” program. The figure is half the 30,000-set mintage of the three previous sets in the series.
The coin news site CoinNews reported on August 22 that the Mint will release notable products on three consecutive days, from August 25 to 27, 2026. The releases commemorate the 250th anniversary (Semiquincentennial) of American independence.
1804 Dollar Appears as a Modern Coin for the First Time
The most anticipated release is the “1804 Silver Dollar High Relief Gold Coin and Silver Medal Set,” available on the 27th. The set’s centerpieces are a one-ounce, 24-karat high-relief gold coin and a one-ounce pure silver medal reproducing the famous 1804 Dollar.
The gold coin will be struck with a privy mark of a Liberty Bell and “250” to signify the 250th anniversary.
The original article notes that the coin is “the most anticipated release in the series for many collectors.” It cites one reason: unlike other historic coins chosen for the program, the 1804 Dollar has never before been reproduced on a modern U.S. Mint coin.
The price for this set has not been announced. Based on the current gold price band, it could be $5,540. Purchases will be limited to one set per household.
Commemorative Coins with a New Finish and Hidden Design
Two other significant releases are scheduled for earlier in the week.
On the 25th, the Morgan and Peace dollars will be available in an “enhanced uncirculated” finish, a first for this series. Both feature a dual date (1776–2026) and a privy mark for the 250th anniversary. Each is priced at $169, with a mintage of 250,000 coins for each design.
The following day, on the 26th, the fourth coin in the 250th anniversary quarter series, “U.S. Constitution,” will be released. It incorporates a playful design: the hands of the clock on Independence Hall, depicted on the reverse, point to 2:50 in a nod to the 250th anniversary.
These new products will be available for purchase starting at noon Eastern Time on their respective release dates.
